Punjab University was founded in the year 1982. It is one of the university which is recognized by UGC. Punjab university is one of the oldest university in India. It offers a wide variety of programs and courses for undergraduates, graduates, and post graduates. There are a wide variety of programs and courses in the field of arts, science, technology, management, law, pharmacy, medical sciences, business and engineering. Punjab university main campus is located in Chandigarh. The university is spread over 550 acres. At present this university is having 75 researches and teaching departments and having 15 regional centers for teaching and research. Almost 188 colleges are affiliated to Punjab University. The main aim of Punjab University is to deliver a quality education towards students. Punjab University is collaborated with oxford Brookes University. The department of atomic energy selected Punjab University as to national knowledge commission. It is accredited by NACC. There are almost 28 courses which are very much useful for the students. There are many diplomatic courses which are very useful for students to get a job. It was first established at Lahore later it is relocated to Chandigarh. In the year 1971 Punjab University started University distance education.
